if i don't get more music soon, i am going to shrivel up and die.
been hanging around
pandora all day, just listening to music, and trying to download ayreon's 'the human equation'. why the fuck does it take so long to download?!?! damnit. and i can't find a decent sonata arctica discography torrent. grrr....nobody i know is a rock opera fan, so ayreon would definitely not be floating somewhere within my grasp. the other option would be to buy it, but it's like $30 from borders.
the internet has made me miserly. i'm so reluctant to pay for music nowadays, except when it's dirt cheap ($10 cds anyone?) why pay for something you can get for free?
hah. convenience, for one. i could waltz into borders, get that cd, and listen to it within the hour. or i could wait the projected 46 hours to download it, and be disappointed by the crap quality.
that's another factor to consider: quality. when listening to beautiful arrangements in a lush progressive piece, the tinging treble of cymbals, unnaturally amplified and coarsened by shredded mp3 formatting, can prove to be very disrupting. why even bother?
furthermore, saving songs on your computer takes up space. most of my computer space (15 gigs at least) is music, but i don't listen to all 15 gb. at the same time, i don't feel like deleting stuff i waited hours and hours to download.
so.....to buy or not to buy? that is the question. i know the answer already, though, because i'm singaporean and i'm cheapskate. besides, there are so many bands that i want to try, and the web is a big, big place.........
