okay, so why didn't you care when we hanged locals? or even people who weren't from a goddamn western country? i don't know if they're banning people from the middle east (crazy terrorists!) or even the japanese (you bombed pearl harbor, you killed people in the war!!) as well, but gee wilikers i wouldn't be surprised. after all, all of us have been committing such terrible acts against the pure, innocent westerners (who can be forgiven for being colonial masters in the past and warmongers and harbingers of greed and whatnot), we simply ought to be whipped for our terrible sins. to those who may be offended by this: this is nothing personal, it's simply global, no? it's ridiculous to condemn the citizens of a country, simply because we live under certain (rather harsh, i admit) laws.
if they really wanted to blame anybody for this, they should blame the person who broke the damn law. it's unreasonable to have expected the government to let him off, simply because everyone else was telling them so. a law is a law, and consequences that you bring upon yourself are to be faced, no matter what. doing something means that you bear the risk of repercussions, and thus implicitly means that you have accepted the consequences should you face them. why can't people understand that? the guy was not a total demon, i'm sure, but it's not right to imagine that he was a martyr either. you make mistakes, you pay.
